Atiya Shahid

Atiya Shahid, MS, MPH, is an Interdisciplinary Pathobiology (Epidemiology) PhD student at

Tuskegee University. She is a proud graduate of Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School and

Xavier University of Louisiana. Her current research aims to assess the effect of Post Traumatic

Stress Disorder on the transmission of HIV in Black Women. In the past, she worked with the

National Institutes of Health's (NIH) All of Us Research Program and its Minority Student

Research Symposium (MSRS) to increase the presence of underrepresented minorities in

biomedical research. She also owns ElleMi LLC, which focuses on real estate investment to

promote black homeownership and generational wealth and combat gentrification. Atiya is a

staunch supporter of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and aspires to teach

at one, in hopes of pouring into the next generation what her professors poured into her.
